How the Bwin works

Unlike traditional bookmakers, Bwin acts as an intermediary between bettors rather than setting its own prices. When you place a back bet, Bwin matches it with a lay bet from another customer at the same odds. This competitive model produces prices driven purely by market supply and demand.

Back betting

Backing means betting for a specific outcome to occur — the same concept as a traditional football bet. You choose an outcome, enter your stake and request odds. If the odds are available in the market, your bet is matched immediately. If not, your bet waits in the queue until a layer offers matching odds or you cancel.

Lay betting

Laying means betting against a specific outcome. If you lay Arsenal to win at 2.20 for £10, and Arsenal draw or lose, you receive the backer's £10 stake. If Arsenal win, you pay the backer their winnings — in this case £12 (£10 stake × (2.20 − 1)). Lay liability must be funded before the bet is submitted.

Football commission

Bwin charges commission on net winnings rather than building a margin into every price. This means live odds are inherently sharper than equivalent bookmaker odds. Commission rates are clearly displayed and vary by market and jurisdiction.

Football liquidity

Football markets include Champions League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A with pre-match and live 1X2 prices. Tennis and basketball lines update in-play on key fixtures.
